Young Leadership Council Reveals Details About 32nd Annual YLC Role Model Awards Gala

NEW ORLEANS — Young Leadership Council (YLC) announced new details about its 32nd Annual YLC Role Model Awards Gala, which will take place on Saturday, September 8, at the Orpheum Theater.

The Gala is a black-tie event and will spotlight the accomplishments of the members of YLC’s 2018 Role Model class, followed by dinner, dancing, and live entertainment. This year’s Gala will feature a Patron Party (6:00 – 7:00 pm), Gala and awards ceremony (7:00 – 8:30 pm), musical entertainment by Deacon John (8:30 – 10:00 pm) and official after-party at the Orpheum Theater’s “Ice Pit” event space. In addition, renowned New Orleans artist Alex Harvie will conduct a live painting on-site, which will be raffled off at the end of the evening. All proceeds from the event will support YLC’s leadership development programs and community service projects that benefit the Greater New Orleans region.

“It has been an honor to recognize this remarkable class of Role Models and reimagine the way YLC spotlights their leadership,” said Caroline Hayes, co-chair of the YLC Gala Committee. “This year’s Gala will be an exciting departure from what we’ve done in the past, while respecting the event’s 32-year history. Upon entering the beautiful Orpheum Theater, guests will be treated to a theatrical array of cuisine, art, and entertainment. We hope the community will join us in celebrating this year’s outstanding group of change-makers!”

Rather than traditional seated dinner, guests will be treated to a variety of culinary options from popular New Orleans restaurants, including Arnaud’s Restaurant, Felix’s Oyster House, Red Fish Grill, SHAYA, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant, Doris Metropolitan, and Manolito Restaurant.

Major sponsors of the 32nd Annual Role Model Awards Gala include Lynne Burkart, Goldring Family Foundation, AOS Interior Environments, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Durr Heavy Construction, Ed Womac, Jr., LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors, and Shell Oil Company.

Annually since 1986, YLC has selected a class of outstanding New Orleanians who serve as Role Models by actively contributing to the betterment of the Greater New Orleans region. Composed of 15 business, community, and civic leaders, this year’s class serves as an inspiration to YLC’s young professional members and to the community at large.

“YLC is excited to showcase the members of the 2018 Role Model class and how they have impacted our community. The individuals who make up our 2018 class demonstrate a wide variety of professions with even broader areas of civic involvement. Each of them has had a hand in making our city a better place,” said 2018 YLC Board President Jack Wiles. “The YLC believes it is crucial to show the next generation of leaders that, regardless of your career path or civic interests, you can make our community a better place. The members of our 2018 Role Model class, with their never-ending passion and leadership, are perfect examples.”
