NEW ORLEANS – As “Downton Abbey” comes to an end in 2016, WYES-TV will present a series of events celebrating the highest-rated drama in PBS history.
Kicking off the series of events is the NORTHSHORE CELEBRATES DOWNTON ABBEY presented in partnership with Latter & Blum on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the home of Kathy and Scott Gutterman located at 85 Cardinal Lane in Mandeville, LA. Proceeds from this event support WYES’ mission of serving greater New Orleans, southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast with educational, entertaining and enlightening programming.
“We are so happy to open our home to WYES viewers and friends,” said Kathy Gutterman. “This event is exciting for us because we are big fans of ‘Downton Abbey’ and WYES! We are looking forward to a fun evening celebrating the countdown to the series.”
Patron guests will enjoy champagne, wine and specialty cocktails provided by Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket. Erik Acquistapace will provide gourmet cheeses in an elaborate presentation while sharing his knowledge and experience garnered during a recent trip to France.
All guests are encouraged to take a picture in front of “Highclere Castle” while enjoying jazz music and bidding on a variety of special themed silent auction items. Don’t miss The Lord Grantham silent auction package which includes a two-night cabin rental at Covey Rise donated by Allyson and Mike Sanderson, Covey Rise quail hunt from Jimbo, women’s hunting boots from Emma’s Shoe Store and women’s custom hunting pants from coveycharleston.com.
WYES thanks Latter & Blum for presenting the Northshore event and thanks the event’s co-chairs Lori Murphy and Susan Villere for their dedication.
Fans of the series can look forward to more WYES “Downton Abbey” themed events now through March. WYES, along with five venues, will host free screenings of the first episode from the final season from New Orleans to Biloxi throughout the month of December.
Frances and Calvin Fayard will open their home for a tea on Thursday, January 14, 2016, and the farewell gala will be held on Thursday, March 3 at the home of Lisa and Tripp Ludwig. Keeping with the theme, WYES encourages all guests at all events to wear period attire.
