WWL-TV Raises Nearly $250K For Tornado Victims

NEW ORLEANS – Immediately after deadly tornadoes struck Southeast Louisiana on February 23, 2016, WWL-TV teamed up with United Way to help raise money for those hit hardest in our community. Starting with this PSA, featuring Eyewitness News anchor Natalie Shepherd, and in almost every newscast since the weather event, viewers have been informed on how to donate, either through WWLTV.com or by text.

Thanks to that promotion and news coverage, WWL-TV has helped the United Way raise more than $239,000 in just two weeks!

“Our neighbors have always supported us, and we in turn want to make sure we’re there for them,” says WWL-TV President and General Manager Tod Smith. “It’s a promise we make every day, and it’s a part of what makes South Louisiana feel like a family.”
