NEW ORLEANS — Nicole Waivers has taken over the role of news director at WWL-TV/WUPL.
A graduate of Loyola University’s communications department and Edna Karr High School, Waivers has served as WWL-TV’s nightside executive producer since January 2022.
“Louisiana is my home,” she said in a press release. “The food, music and culture run through my veins. I watched WWL-TV as a child. I can think of no greater honor than to lead this newsroom.”
Before joining the WWL team, Waiver served as executive producer at WFAA in Dallas, where she led the dayside producing and assignment desk teams.
“Nicole is a leader who brings a passion for the people of southeast Louisiana,” said WWL-TV President and General Manager Tod Smith. “Her ties to the local area run deep. That, combined with her extensive cross-platform and multi-market experience makes her the perfect choice to lead our newsroom into the future.”
