HOUMA, LA (AP) — Work continues on the Bayou Little Caillou Floodgate near Cocodrie. The floodgate is part of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf levee project.
Levee officials say beginning construction on a large-scale project near Falgout Canal in Terrebonne Parish is a top priority in early 2015.
Permitting and a $20 million budget are in place — a roughly four-mile stretch of levee south of Falgout Canal Road — that will be part of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf project to protect Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes from storm surge.
Terrebonne Levee District Executive Director Reggie Dupre tells The Courier’s Chris Leblanc construction should begin in early spring.
