MARRERO, LA – West Jefferson Hospital Auxilians gathered at the Four Columns reception hall earlier this month for the Installation of the Officers of the Auxiliary to West Jefferson Medical Center. This was the 55th annual installation of the Auxiliary’s Board of Directors.
In the first order of business, outgoing president Cheryl Hebert presented WJMC CEO Nancy R. Cassagne with a donation to the hospital in the amount of $103,300. The donation will be used to fund pediatric anesthesia monitoring sensors, a blanket warmer cabinet in the Imaging Department, Reiki therapy in the Infusion Center of the cancer program, components of the getwell:) network patient interactive system, patient comfort items and mobile screening diagnostics.
Across the decades, the Auxiliary has continued to raise funds to support the hospital. In just the last three years, the Auxiliary, Hebert said, has donated more than $300,000 to the hospital. Donations have funded many areas including the heart failure scales initiative of cardiac services, translations services, the Family Birth Place family room upgrades and enhancements to the Family Birth Place, Video Remote Conference Units for patient translation in the acute care setting, armless chairs for patient registration, and a bariatric infusion chair.
During the annual Installation of Officers, both Cassagne and Hebert thanked the hospital volunteers for their dedication and their service to West Jefferson Medical Center and the community.
The 2016 officers were installed by Dr. Frank C. Di Vincenti, vice-chairman of the Board of Managers of West Jefferson Medical Center. The new officers will begin their positions effective January 1. They are Althea LaCour, President; Hilda Dufrene, First Vice-President; Carmen Blanchard, Second Vice-President; Gail Becker, Treasurer; Cheryl Hebert, Recording Secretary; Charlene Savoie, Financial Secretary; and Jeannie Breaux, Corresponding Secretary. It was also announced Raynell Bourgeois will serve as Historian and Gerald “Woody” Woodhead will serve as Sergeant-at-Arms.
