Benjamin Franklin High School cheerleaders, dance squad, majorettes and their support staff deemed Eve Peyton, Franklin’s communications and marketing coordinator, a bit of hero the other week because she drew up a map that clearly showed every available restroom along the Pygmalion parade route.
“I mapped off places in the community that would offer a quick rest stop for our students so they wouldn't have to wait in line and could keep up with the parade.”
This is important because right along with a big box of Popeyes chicken, King Cake, ice-cold Purple Haze Abita beer, comfortable shoes; access to a clean restroom is a definite Mardi Gras necessity. And that’s exactly what Event Restroom is doing all year long and especially through Carnival season.
“Our restrooms were at Harrah's Casino on Mardi Gras day, various businesses and hundreds of private homes,” says Beth Lanier, client and business development for Event Restrooms.
William Lazaro and Jeffrey Badeaux, two Jefferson Parish business owners, purchased Event Restroom in 2016. They also own Base Logistics, Pelican Marine and The Bistro “One Smart Cookie. The business, with a 25-person staff, is the largest provider of restrooms in the South.
They offer portable toilets, restroom trailers and portable sanitation stations. The portable toilets also come in a range of colors. For Mardi Gras, you’ve got your purple, green and gold. For the Race for the Cure they offer pink and on White Linen Night look for white ones.
Throughout the year, Event Restrooms also provides relief to eventgoers attending such events as The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage, the PGA Zurich Golf Classic, the French Quarter Festival, the Zoo to Do and the Voodoo Experience.
But what keeps their business regular is providing restrooms for contractors who need facilities for their staff, sometimes for customers and clients too.
“Some big projects will need our restrooms for a year or more,” says Beth. “And that means we will service those facilities once or twice a week. It’s what keeps us going. Our restrooms provide guests with what they least expect from a restroom service – luxurious and clean accommodations. We also provide fencing, tanks, maintenance and sanitation at project sites.”
Douglas Cook Enterprises, a local contractor currently renovating 11 McDonalds all over the south is one of Event Restrooms clients.
“They are so easy to work with and they're prompt and reliable,” says Kristen Aromy, Cook project manager. “We love doing business with them.”
Beth loves her job because she gets to interact with a diverse group of professionals, contractors, event planners doing festival logistics and strategic planning.
“And, honestly I really like being a part of the team that executes a seamless event. Most people chuckle at the ‘toilet business’ but it’s something everyone needs at work, at a private event or a public festival. So when nature calls, we provide a comfortable and private place for you, your guests, or staff. ”
