WDSU To Present LA Gubernatorial Debate

NEW ORLEANS – WDSU, the Hearst Television Inc., NBC affiliate serving the New Orleans market, in partnership with broadcasters across the state, will host and televise a Louisiana gubernatorial debate at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, as part of WDSU’s Commitment 2015 Political coverage.

         The participating candidates will include U.S. Senator David Vitter, State Representative John Bel Edwards, Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle and Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, along with attorney Cary Deaton and Baptist minister, Rev. Jeremy Odom.

         The 60-minute commercial-free debate, originating from WDSU’s studios, will be moderated by WDSU news anchor Scott Walker.

         "Our state faces challenges and opportunities in the years ahead, and we are pleased to provide voters with insights that will help them make an educated decision in this most important political race,” said WDSU President and General Manager Joel Vilmenay.

         Outside of the Greater New Orleans area, the debate will air on the following stations: KALB-TV, Alexandria, LA, KAQY-TV, Monroe, LA, KTBS-TV 3.3, Shreveport, LA, and KLFY.COM, Lafayette, LA.

         The debate can also be watched live through WDSU’s Nowcast stream on its website, WDSU.COM and on their mobile app.
