NEW ORLEANS – Today is National Coffee Day, and personal-finance website WalletHub determined New Orleans was the 7th Best City for Coffee Lovers in 2016.
WalletHub found, according to a Gallup poll, nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults today drink coffee, and each averages 2.7 cups per day. Some estimates even place Americans in the lead of global coffee consumption, at 146 billions cups per year. The website also reports, in the right dosages, caffeine contributes to longevity, transforming carafes and fancy brewing systems into modern-day fountains of youth.
WalletHub’s number crunchers compared the 100 largest cities across 12 key metrics, ranging from “number of coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés per capita” to “average price of a coffee pack,” and found New Orleans ranks:
