NEW ORLEANS – With the national uninsured rate at a record low of 8.6 percent, according to the National Health Interview Survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the topic of health-care reform likely to be argued in the upcoming presidential debates, personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2016's Uninsured Rates by City and State.
Analysts determined Louisiana ranks 43 of the 50 states for highest uninsured rates, and the city of New Orleans ranks 36 out of 64 large cities for lowest uninsured rate.
WalletHub’s analysts compared the rates for 548 U.S. cities as well as the 50 states then broke down the figures by age, race/ ethnicity and income level:
