LAFAYETTE, LA (AP) — By the end of August, six Wal-Mart Supercenters in Louisiana will drop six hours each from their 24/7 operating schedule.
The Advertiser’s Cheryl Devall reports one store each in Baton Rouge, New Iberia and Opelousas will begin closing at midnight as will at least one in Monroe and two in Lafayette.
Although Wal-Mart did not issue a companywide announcement, signs at the stores began to inform customers this week that the store will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight starting later this month.
The reduced hours are not specific to Louisiana.
Company spokesman Brian Nick says about 200 of the chain's 4,500 stores in the United States also will open for fewer hours each day.
Nick says the reduced hours will allow staff to get stores in good shape for customers the following day.
