NEW ORLEANS, La. – The next time you order via Waitr from your favorite New Orleans restaurant, it will cost you less to get it delivered straight to your home or office. In a news release, the service announced today that it is cutting its delivery fee to $2.98 for the city – a major reduction from its previous flat fee of $6.
“We believe in simplicity and being honest with our stakeholders, the very people that enable us to have a business — our customers, our restaurant partners and our drivers,” said English Nassif, Waitr market manager for New Orleans. “As a part of this commitment, Waitr has chosen a simple fee structure – a flat delivery fee to operate our business, no service fees added to your bill … and drivers get to keep 100-percent of their tips.”
By significantly reducing the customer’s cost to order, Waits hopes the initiative will substantially increase business for its restaurant partners. Currently, more than 550 New Orleans restaurants use Waitr’s delivery service.
“Waitr continues to build the first true partnership that exists in the food delivery space with our restaurants. We believe this is another step to provide restaurants and their guests the best possible third-party delivery experience,” said Nassif.
The rollback on delivery fees follows Waitr’s announcement that it is hiring an additional 100 drivers for the city. The company currently employs more than 300 delivery personnel, but more help is needed as it expands its New Orleans operation.
Launched in 2015 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Waitr is an on-demand food ordering and delivery service. Waitr, along with recently acquired food delivery company Bite Squad, connects local restaurants to hungry diners throughout the country.
