NEW ORLEANS – In early May, the Urban League of Louisiana’s Women’s Business Resource Center (WBRC) launched a local video pitch and business plan competition for the SBA's 2017 InnovateHER Challenge and announced it has selected Havilah Malone, founder and owner of Proof of What's Possible, Inc., as its local winner.
The SBA's InnovateHER Challenge is a cross-cutting prize competition that provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs throughout the United States to showcase products and services that help impact and empower the lives of women and families, have the potential for commercialization and fill a need in the marketplace.
Malone, a WBRC client, is a best-selling author and inspirational speaker from New Orleans who graduated from college at the age of 19. She is the visionary leader of Proof of What's Possible, Inc., which specializes in personal and business development for entrepreneurs and leaders. Malone has been featured on Fox, NBC, CBS, Huffington Post and more. Malone attributes much of her success to Napoleon Hill's principles she learned as a youth.
The funding from this competition will support her program initiative ‘Fueling the Future Now,’ which provides children with the best foundation for character development, social and emotional wellness and life skills.
Malone's nomination package will be sent to the SBA, who will then identify up to 10 Finalists. These finalists will be invited to travel in September 2017 for a live pitch competition and compete for up to $70,000 in prize money provided by the Sara Blakely Foundation.
