NEW ORLEANS – Each year the Urban Conservancy and StayLocal honor individuals who represent the organizations’ core values and who have been instrumental in shaping the organizations’ vision for a vibrant and resilient New Orleans.
The 2016 Urban Heroes Celebration will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Hotel Storyville, 1261 Esplanade Ave., from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., to honor this year’s Urban Heroes:
• Keith Twitchell, President, Committee for a Better New Orleans
CBNO works to create equity and opportunity for all New Orleanians by developing community leaders, fostering civic engagement, and advocating for open, effective and accountable government.
Twitchell is also the monthly entrepreneur columnist for Biz New Orleans Magazine.
• Andreanecia Morris, Executive Director, HousingNOLA
HousingNOLA analyzes the present state of housing in New Orleans, and recommends strategies for making better housing-policy decisions in the future.
• Leora Madden, Owner, Pearl Wine Co.
Located in the heart of Mid-City, Pearl Wine Co. offers a huge selection of wine with more than 600 different labels, and sells a wide variety of craft beer and specialty liquors at its wine store and adjacent bar serving cocktails, beer and wine with vintages by the glass.
The Above and Beyond Award will be awarded to Phyllis Cassidy, Founder, Good Work Network, a 501(c)3 organization that provides business development services to minority- and women-owned businesses throughout a 15-parish region in Southeast Louisiana.
