UNO Real Estate Research Institute Gets $600K Gift

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The University of New Orleans' Institute for Economic Development and Real Estate Research has received a $600,000 donation from Latter and Blum CEO Robert Merrick that will help set up a support fund for the program.

New Orleans CityBusiness’ Robin Shannon reports the institute provides technical assistance and applied research in the areas of economic development and real estate for public, private and nonprofit organizations. It also conducts a pair of economic outlook and real estate forecast seminars named for former director Dr. Ivan Miestchovich, who died last year.

Merrick serves on the UNO Foundation Board of Directors and his firm is a partner in the seminars, which draw hundreds of real estate professionals annually, and will be held May 6 at the New Orleans campus and June 10 in Covington.
