NEW ORLEANS – In a July 27 letter, University of Holy Cross President Stanton F. McNeely III said all members of the UHC Community (students, staff and faculty) who enter campus buildings for any reason will be required to be vaccinated with an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed vaccine.
“A fully-vaccinated UHC campus community enables the best opportunity for a healthy return to high-quality face-to-face teaching and learning,” said McNeely. “Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic for the safety the University community.”
Proof of vaccination will be required by Aug. 13.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, and studies have shown that they prevent severe illness and death from the virus. Reports of serious side effects from vaccinations are rare, but students, staff, and faculty should consult with their medical provider prior to scheduling a vaccination and review information on the CDC’s website here.
