NEW ORLEANS (AP) — U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, the top federal prosecutor in New Orleans, will serve on an advisory committee to the incoming Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch.
The U.S. attorney's office said on Thursday that Polite was one of six U.S. attorneys selected to serve on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee.
The committee represents the 93 U.S. attorneys across the nation and reports to the attorney general through the deputy attorney general. The committee gives advice on policy, management and operations.
Lynch, the former federal prosecutor for parts of New York City, was sworn in Monday to replace Eric Holder, becoming the first African-American woman to serve as the nation's top law enforcement official.
Polite has served as the U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Louisiana since September 2013.
