Tulane Moves To New Mississippi Gulf Coast Campus

BILOXI, MS (AP) — Some 300 students are taking their first steps onto the new Tulane University Mississippi Coast campus.

WLOX-TV’s Trang Pham-Bu reports staff spent Friday moving into the newly-renovated building at Edgewater Village, preparing for Tuesday's classes.

After 13 years at Edgewater Mall, moving was a dream come true for many of the university's faculty and staff. Tulane University Senior Academic Adviser Dr. Lisa Hammons says she started working there in 2006 and there's been talk of a move ever since.

The construction project included adding a student lounge and study area, along with technology, security and environmental upgrades. It took five months to complete. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled Oct. 26, the date Tulane's Mississippi Coast campus reopened after Hurricane Katrina.
