NEW ORLEANS – Tubby & Coo’s Mid-City Book Shop, which was recently named as one of New Orleans’ best new retail businesses in The Gambit’s “Best of New Orleans” issue, will celebrate its one year anniversary Labor Day weekend.
The store opened on Labor Day, September 1, 2014.
The two-day celebration will feature free beer and cupcakes (a staple for events at the store), an in-store scavenger hunt, flash sales and even a “Write Your Own Comic” workshop from local graphic novel writer Kurt Amacker.
The book shop will also be offering perks to customers who spend $25 or more, including free books and discounts. Local authors and fan groups will celebrate with customers as well.
Tubby & Coo’s Mid-City Book Shop is located at 631 N. Carrollton Ave., just two doors down from the Bean Gallery coffee shop and right next door to SOPO. The shop is named after owner Candice Huber’s grandparents, who grew up just a few blocks down Toulouse Street from where the shop is located. Huber is also the founder of local literary blog Fleur de Lit and of the literary series Reading Between the Wines, taking place on the first Wednesday of the month at Pearl Wine Co. in Mid-City.
