Trinity Marine Announces 288-Job Shut Down At Brusly Plant

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Trinity Marine Products Inc. said it will shut down its Brusly plant beginning on Oct. 31, a move that will put 288 employees out of work.

         The Advocate’s Timothy Boone reports two other companies also announced layoffs Tuesday: Bradken's Amite foundry and ProActive Technologies Inc.

         According to a notice filed Aug. 31 with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, Trinity said all barge production and administrative tasks will shut down by Dec. 9.

         Bradken said it will shut down its Amite foundry beginning Oct. 26, a move that will put up to 65 employees out of work.

         ProActive Technologies Inc. said it will lay off 51 employees at its Barksdale Air Force Base location, after the company lost its contract to provide logistics support for the B-52 bomber's training system.
