Travel And Tourism Week Parade Rolls Today

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans hospitality industry workers will parade today, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, and promote tourism as the city’s number one economic driver.

         The 7th Annual National Travel and Tourism Week Parade, led by the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (NOCVB), starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, 300 Bourbon St., and ends at the Capitol One Pavilion in Woldenberg Park, St. Louis Street at the Mississippi River.

         Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and New Orleans CVB President and CEO Stephen Perry will address the crowd at Woldenberg Park to thank the industry for helping set another record year for tourism spending. They are also scheduled to release 2015 tourism numbers.

         NOCVB reps said tourism is the lifeblood of the Crescent City employing more than 86,000 New Orleanians.

         Joining the hundreds of uniformed industry workers, the parade will feature a brass band, floats and costumed revelers including stilt walkers, Krewe of the Rolling Elvi, Black Storyville Baby Dolls, Camel Toe Lady Steppers and Pussyfooters, as well as local favorites Mr. Okra and the Tropical Isle Hand Grenade.
