Top 10 Contestants Compete Tonight At Roux Carre' New Orleans Talent Search Competition

NEW ORLEANS – Roux Carre’, the pioneering New Orleans dining destination and live performance venue for today’s adventurous food and music lovers, announced the Top Ten contestants who will compete in the Roux Carre’ New Orleans Talent Search and become New Orleans next rising star.

         Aimed at the emerging musical talent of New Orleans, the talent search is a coveted opportunity for aspiring musical acts from across the greater New Orleans area to experience real world music industry performance opportunities, compete for seed capital, develop a fan-base and become the hottest act in New Orleans.

         The 1st Place Grand Prize Winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize, a future concert performance opportunity at House of Blues New Orleans, a professional photo shoot, and a future performance at Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center’s Holiday on the Boulevard. The 2nd Place winner will receive $1,500 cash prize, 3rd Place will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and 4th Place will receive a $500 cash prize.

         Contestants will compete across (3) Rounds on the Roux Carre’ Stage. Each Round will result in the elimination of (2) contestants. The competition will culminate with the Final (4) during the Winning Round at House of Blues New Orleans. The dates are as follow:

 

• Round 1 – Friday, September 23, 2016, from 6pm-8pm at Roux Carre’, 2000 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Free and Open to the Public.

• Round 2 – Friday, September 30, 2016, from 6pm-8pm at Roux Carre’, 2000 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Free and Open to the Public.

• Round 3 – Friday, October 7, 2016, from 6pm-8pm at Roux Carre’, 2000 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Free and Open to the Public.

• Final Winning Round – Thursday, October 20, 2016, 8pm at House of Blues, 225 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA. Tickets are $10.00.

         Roux Carre’ reps said after an extensive search and an incredible response by talent from throughout the metropolitan New Orleans region, the top Ten Contestants were selected by a panel of judges to compete in the (4) week competition. During each of the Rounds, which begins today, Friday, September 23, at 6:00 p.m., guest will enjoy a talent-filled evening of music contestants will perform in front of a panel of music industry judges. Also, guest will be able to enjoy the culinary delights from the food-preneurs of the Roux Carre.

         Judges will evaluate each performer on vocal and/or musical ability, audience response, overall quality of the performance, stage presence and creativity. Fans will also be able to experience the competition, and more through Roux Carre’s website and Social Media platforms. In keeping with its dedication to supporting emerging talent and the musical culture of New Orleans, contestants perform solo or as a group in one of the following musical genres: R&B, Hip-Hop, Caribbean, Latin, Brass Band, Funk, and/or Jazz. Music Industry professionals will select the finalists and winner with fans/audience members being able to select Fan favorite.

         A project of Good Work Network, a 501(c)3 organization that provides micro-enterprise business development to minority- and women-owned businesses and members of the creative industries, the Roux Carré is a business accelerator for emerging food-preneurs and a showcase venue for up-and-coming performing and visual artists.

         Featured restaurants include: Estralita’s Express, Johnny’s Jamaican Grill, The Pupusa Lady, Splendid Pig, and the Youth Empowerment Project‘s Trafigura Work and Learn Juice Box.

         Good Work Network offers artists the Roux Carre’ Artists Workshop Series, which helps artists in branding and marketing, and can lead to performances on the Roux Carre’ stage.
