NEW ORLEANS — When the inaugural Empowerment and Policy Conference kicks off in late September, local policy makers and residents will collaborate with national thought leaders and discuss how to create an environment where African Americans can thrive.
Developed by the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus (LLBC) and the Urban League of Louisiana (ULLA), the inaugural Empowerment and Policy Conference takes place on Sep. 27 and Sep. 28, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel. The statewide gathering is designed to examine systems, influence policy decisions, and enact changes that will positively impact African Americans in Louisiana.
Tickets are available here.
Featured speakers include Marc Morial, the president and CEO of the National Urban League, and CNN political commentators Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers.
To come up with the content of the conference, ULLA and LLBC has been engaging residents across the state through a statewide listening tour that began in July. Community members are helping to shape the conference agenda by voicing their top concerns and sharing their visions for an equitable Louisiana.
