NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming detour of through traffic on Magazine Street at Nashville Avenue. Crews will begin making an emergency repair to a damaged drainage line on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Repairs are being expedited to be completed before Uptown Mardi Gras parades begin.
Beginning Tuesday at 7:00 a.m., there will be no through traffic in the 5700 block of Magazine Street.
Vehicular traffic on Magazine Street, traveling toward downtown, will be diverted onto Nashville Avenue to Tchoupitoulas Street.
Vehicular traffic on Magazine Street traveling toward Audubon Park will be detoured at Jefferson Avenue to St. Charles Avenue. Only local traffic will be permitted on Magazine Street between Octavia Street and Nashville Avenue. Appropriate detour signage will be in place.
