Thousands Of Park And Recreation Professionals Convene In New Orleans For Conference, Lemann Playground Dedication

NEW ORLEANS – The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) brings nearly 8,000 attendees to the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, from Tuesday, Sept. 26 – Thursday, Sept. 28, to talk parks, playgrounds, recreation programs and more.

         The three-day event will feature nearly 500 exhibitors demonstrating the latest in park and recreation equipment as well as more than 200 educational sessions where park and recreation professionals can learn from leading experts as they work to improve their local community spaces.

         On Sunday, Sept. 24, attendees were invited to the Lafitte Greenway dedication ceremony of Lemann Playground as part of NRPA’s Parks Build Community project. The Lafitte Greenway will also be highlighted during educational programs as New Orleans and the Gentilly Resilience District are featured as icons of building for resilience.

         NRPA is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conservation. NRPA leverages their role in conservation, health and wellness and social equity to improve their communities alongside members park and recreation professionals and advocates, reps said. At 60,000 strong, NRPA members represent public spaces in urban communities, rural settings and everything in between.

         This is the second NRPA Annual Conference held in New Orleans and is anticipated to have an economic impact of nearly $9 million.
