NEW ORLEANS – The Roots of Music is New Orleans’ non-profit organization dedicated to teaching, supporting and empowering New Orleans’ youth through music education, academic support and mentorship, while preserving and promoting New Orleans’ unique musical and cultural heritage.
In celebration of 7 years of success, The Roots of Music will host a festive evening of live musical performances, culinary delights, creative cocktails, an impressive array of auction items and celebrity guest appearances on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 6:00 p.m., at a private uptown home.
A limited number of tickets, priced at $150 per person, are available.
Hosted by WGNO’s News with Twist’s very own LBJ, festivities will include a Crusader parade, entertainment by the Original Pinettes Brass Band, craft beer from NOLA Brewing, cocktails and wine, hors d’oeuvres by Joel’s Catering and oysters by Felix’s.

Co-founded in 2007 by Rebirth Brass Band drummer Derrick Tabb and Allison Reinhardt, with programming beginning in 2008, The Roots of Music provides year-round free music education to low income kids 9-14 years of age aiming to teach students the necessary skills to continue New Orleans’ unique musical tradition.
Free academic and musical instruction is provided, as well as all instruments, transportation and daily hot meals.
The Roots of Music annually serves more than 130 children living all across Orleans Parish and attending over 40 different schools.
