NEW ORLEANS — The American Association of Geographers (AAG) will welcome 8,500 professionals at the New Orleans Marriott/Sheraton New Orleans Hotel for the AAG Annual Meeting, April 10-14. Key themes for this year’s meeting include black geographies, hazards, geography and GIScience, and public engagement in geography. These themes will be present throughout more than 6,000 presentations, posters, workshops and field trips by leading scholars, experts and researchers.
Founded in 1904 as a scientific and educational society, AAG is a growing, worldwide membership organization of more than 12,000 leading scholars, researchers, professionals and students. AAG facilitates interdisciplinary networking and collaboration through annual meetings, international workshops, specialty conferences, publications and research programs. The AAG annual meeting is an interdisciplinary forum open to anyone interested in geography and related disciplines.
The AAG Annual Meeting was last held in New Orleans in 2003. This year’s event is projected to have an economic impact of $10.5 million.
