THIBODAUX, LA (AP) — Terrebonne General Medical Center is getting a boost in its purchasing power that could help the rising costs of health care.
The Daily Comet’s Xerxes Wilson reports TGMC is partnering with the Ochsner Health System to access its larger health care network to make purchases.
TGMC board chairman Daniel Henry says his hospital and Ochsner already partner in operating the Leonard J. Chambert Medical Center in Houma as the area's charity hospital.
Henry says while TGMC pays a certain amount for supplies for something such as a knee transplant, the much larger network can procure the same supplies at a lower rate.
Hospital officials will appear before the Terrebonne Parish Council in the coming months to reclassify the hospital's bonds as part of the agreement because Ochsner is a nonprofit entity.
