Ten Companies To Pitch Medical Inventions For A Chance To Win $2,500 Prize

 

NEW ORLEANS — Ten emerging healthcare-industry entrepreneurs, including New Orleans-based Levisonics and Lafayette-based ExperonHealth, will pitch their innovative medical solutions for a chance to win $2,500 and help make their ideas a reality at the Get Started Medical pitch contest on August 30 in Lafayette.

Sponsored by Cox Business in partnership with Accelerate South and the Lafayette General Foundation, the public is invited to attend a pre-event networking reception and participate as a member of the live competition audience.

“The medical field is changing rapidly thanks to entrepreneurs who continue to innovate in hopes of advancing cures and improving our quality of life,” said Leigh King, vice president of Cox Business Louisiana. “It is truly exciting to be able to host Get Started Medical and showcase some of the hottest business ideas in healthcare.”

The event will take place at the University of Louisiana Lafayette Student Union in the Atchafalaya Grand Ballroom located at 620 McKinley St Lafayette, LA 70503. At 5:30 p.m. there will be a networking reception and at 6:30 p.m. the pitch competition will take place.

During the live pitching competition, contestants will be given two-and-a-half minutes to pitch their ideas, followed by questions and answers and then comments from a panel of judges.

Monte Danos, director of marketing for Cox Business, will host the competition, joined by the following community and business leaders serving as judges:

These experts will review each of the plans and select a winner based on innovation, ease of implementation and consumer/community benefit.

Birya Biotech (Baltimore)— a product to improve the quality of life for those battling severe allergies.
Cure Global (Pineville, La.)—  telehealth for correctional facilities.
ExperonHealth (Lafayette, La.)— predictive tools to maximize resources throughout healthcare facilities and enhance patient visibility.
F3 Healthcare (Carrboro, N.C.)— a technology platform to reduce opioid usage after surgical discharge with patient experience indicators.
Fairway Biomed (St. Louis)— a product to control bleeding in resection surgeries done in the liver, kidney, and lungs.
Hera Health Solutions (Atlanta)— a biodegradable long-term drug delivery implant device.
Insight Optics (Atlanta)— a retinal diagnostic platform for primary care physicians.
Levisonics (New Orleans)— a technology for non-contact analysis of blood coagulation and fluid quality control testing.
NeuroRescue (Columbus, Ohio)— a medical device to begin induced hypothermia protocol in patients before they arrive at the hospital.
ThinkGenetic (Boston)— a cutting-edge genetic diagnostic tool.
