NEW ORLEANS – Next week, Nov. 1-3, TED, an online media corporation, will bring its TEDWomen conference to New Orleans for the first time. Taking up residence in the historic Orpheum Theatre, the three-day conference will bring together more than 40 speakers from around the world to give TEDTalks based on the conference theme: Bridges.
"We build them, we cross them, and sometimes we even burn them…," says the event website. "At this time of deep divides and rising global challenges, we will hear TED Talks from entrepreneurs, innovators, artists and activists, thought leaders from business and civil society—bridge builders from around the world." The curated talks, community dinners and activities around the city will all operate under the "bridges" theme throughout the conference.
In addition to the speakers, seven local performers, including Germaine Bazzle and Robin Barnes, are set to take the stage during the conference.
Conference-goers must apply for a TEDWomen membership in order to attend the conference. The TEDWomen website says the membership includes a three-day stage program, comfortable simulcast spaces, dinners and parties, TED gift bag, TEDConnect, workshops and activities and a conference video archive.
