CHARLOTTE, NC – Take 5 Oil Change, which was launched in Metairie in 1984, announced the opening of their 500th store. It will be owned by Pete Frey, former president of Take 5. The grand opening is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Covington (653 North Hwy 190, outside the North Park Business Park). The party will feature a guest appearance by Super Bowl champion Zach Strief, the former offensive lineman from the New Orleans Saints, along with BBQ treats and beverages.
According to a press release, Pete Frey has spent more than 20 years with the Take 5 organization. He joined Take 5 founder Monty Montgomery in 1987 as a consultant, writing the playbook for the first store which opened on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain. In 1996, with the fifth store opening, Frey officially joined the company as general manager, and soon after was named president as the company began to grow. He served as president and CEO until 2013, president until 2016, and recently retired in 2018.
Frey knows first-hand the unique nature of the Take 5 model. The company offers a customer-friendly experience where the car owner can sit in their vehicle and return phone calls, emails and texts while their vehicle is serviced. They are in and out quickly, without disrupting their day.
“Take 5 has developed a culture that really values the customer and focuses on making the best possible experience — and that creates return customers,” Frey said. “Customers can see that we respect their time and we respect them.”
