NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The Southern University System Board of Supervisors' Chancellor Search Committee will interview four semifinalists who are seeking to replace Victor Ukpolo, who stepped down as leader of Southern University at New Orleans in June.
The candidates, announced in a Wednesday news release, are:
• James H. Ammons, former president of Florida A&M University and former chancellor at North Carolina Central University.
• Lorenzo L. Esters, vice president of philanthropy at USA Funds.
• Lisa Mims-Devezin, interim chancellor at Southern University at New Orleans.
• Boyce C. Williams, president and chief executive officer of The National Alliance of Learning, Inc.
Interviews are scheduled Oct. 13 in New Orleans.
Ukpolo is credited with helping SUNO recover from Hurricane Katrina. But low graduation rates and charges of mismanagement have plagued the campus.
