The move to hire Tiblier as Chief Marketing Officer, McKay as Chief Operating Officer and Brown as Chief Technology Officer comes as Story Block Media ventures growth to maximize the model that CEO, Dennis Lomonaco, has always wanted for the company, a model where social charity is built in. This surfacing vision to leverage the power of change that marketing provides to businesses and nonprofits has been the Story Block dream since its inception and is gaining powerful traction within the New Orleans nonprofit community.
Lomonaco commented, “You can teach people how to ‘do’ marketing, but you can’t teach people purpose. You can’t teach people passion or empathy. Those are the traits that we’re looking for in our team and our clients because that’s how you change the world. We are creating a world for great talent to do great things. That’s the biggest part of our mission and it takes a powerful process engine to grow that.”
It was this vision that drew Tiblier, McKay and Brown onto the team without hesitation. And now, with their added expertise and passion for community, Story Block has added a turbo-booster and metallic hydrogen rocket fuel to their engine.
Val McKay, COO
As COO, Val McKay will be aligning inbound processes with Lomonaco to propel Story Block Media into new echelons of technical project management, client growth and effective community enrichment. McKay, bringing her over 20 years of marketing, advertising and digital operations experience, chose to change direction in her career, leaving her position with a custom software development company to use her accumulated powers for good, not just profit. She was drawn to the idea that client-paid work can be the engine that drives work for nonprofits and other organizations that need help, but don’t have the means to pay for it.
“I kept thinking of the Tom’s shoe model,” McKay explains, “that it would be an incredibly moving experience to work for a company where giving to those in need was baked into the model — that it was the model. Dennis and I had many discussions about that exact idea, and that’s when I was hooked. We could place [community enrichment] in the center, as the reason for all the rest, and we would choose staff and clients in alignment with that model.”

Keegan Brown, CTO
Keegan Brown is a seasoned web software engineer and creative technologist. He’s been developing websites, web applications, and other software products for over 10 years. With experience across the web application stack as well as a host of other fields like Internet of Things (IoT), interactive graphics programming, machine learning, novel human interfaces, and development operations (devops), the addition of Keegan to the Story Block team promises to expand Story Block’s offerings into exciting new territory. As CTO, he’ll manage Story Block’s technology stack and tech-centric service offerings, as well as promote Story Block’s expansion into technology-first business offerings.
