Steel Arrives at Biloxi's MGM Stadium

BILOXI, MS (AP) — Steel delivery started this week at the MGM Stadium site.

Tim Bennett, one of the team owners, tells Mary Perez with The Sun Herald it's the first sign of vertical progress.

The home team dugout already is built along the first base line and the first of the steel is being lifted by a crane and placed behind the dugout to support the coaches' offices, clubhouse, concession stand, restrooms, novelty shops and other facilities.

Also taking shape are entrances — a north entrance that opens to downtown Biloxi and a south entrance near U.S. 90 and a ramp for wheelchair access.

Bennett said says work should go pretty quickly.

He says constructions crews are working weekends to get the stadium built.
