NEW ORLEANS — Spirit Airlines is expanding service at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in February, adding nonstop routes and increasing flight frequencies ahead of the Mardi Gras travel period.
The airline will resume nonstop service from Charlotte and Miami to New Orleans from Feb. 12 through Feb. 18. During the same period, Spirit will increase flights from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando to three daily departures, adding capacity as visitor demand rises during Carnival season.
The expanded schedule supplements Spirit’s existing nonstop service from New Orleans to destinations including Cancun, Chicago, Dallas–Fort Worth, Detroit and Tampa.

“New Orleans is an exciting destination year-round, but the city really takes excitement to new heights during Mardi Gras,” said Andrea Lusso, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines. “Our expanded schedule to New Orleans this February gives our Guests even more nonstop options to travel to the Big Easy and join in on the Mardi Gras fun.”
According to Spirit, the temporary service increases are intended to accommodate peak travel demand tied to Mardi Gras festivities, which consistently draw large numbers of domestic visitors to the city.
