NEW ORLEANS— Son of a Saint will host its fourth annual fundraising gala Friday, Dec. 2, at Le Méridien New Orleans, 333 Poydras St., at 7:00 p.m. Attendees at the sold-out event are welcomed to arrive and register for the festivities beginning at 6:45 p.m., as a patron party cocktail hour precedes the main event. Guests will experience musical entertainment with live performances from The Roamin’ Jasmine, live and silent auctions, a three-course dinner, an open bar and an after party.
As Son of a Saint continues the crucial work of mentoring and enhancing the lives of fatherless young men in the New Orleans area, proceeds from this standout signature event will go toward the organization’s core mission, reps said.
Jones Walker LLP, Republic Business Credit, Solomon Group and River Rock Stone Works serve as this year’s marquee gala sponsors. Wink Design & Events will provide the décor to transform the gala space. Renowned community leaders William “Bill” Hines and Dr. Norman C. Francis have been named honorary co-chairs of the event. A surprise guest will deliver a spotlighted keynote speech during the program. In addition, a group of 20 student athlete ambassadors from the University of New Orleans will be involved at the gala, to help staff and activate the event. An after party will immediately follow from 10:00 p.m. to midnight at the hotel restaurant LMNO, with a DJ and cash bar.
“This is hands down our biggest fundraising event, and we strive to make this gala better and more successful each time we invite all our friends and supporters to join us,” said Son of a Saint founder and President Bivian “Sonny” Lee III. “Beyond that, we’re really excited to award and acknowledge our boys and the talented individuals who collectively fuel this organization. Son of a Saint would not be possible without them, so we’re proud to celebrate and congratulate their commitment to the cause.”
While Friday’s event is currently sold out, Son of a Saint is still accepting donations.
Every year, Son of a Saint, 501(c)(3) organization, sponsors as many as 45 youths, ages 10-13, providing them with educational and mental health services and placing them in recreational programs. This year, the organization introduced its “Drink Dat” fundraising event series held before each New Orleans Saints home game. The pre-game social gatherings have served as both a complement and a lead up to the signature, year-end gala.
