SLIDELL, LA – The Slidell Memorial Hospital Board of Commissioners selected David G. Mannella as Board Chairman for 2015.
Mannella, who has represented residents of Ward 8 since 2009, is a business executive and formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Jackson Kearney Group, a leading provider of maritime logistics services throughout the Gulf South. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the SMH board.
Board officers are elected annually.
Daniel J. Ferrari, who represents Ward 7 was selected to serve as Vice Chairman for 2015.
Walter J. “Dub” Lane, representing Ward 8, was selected as the Secretary/ Treasurer.
“In my role as Board Chairman, I am committed to ensuring our community hospital delivers on our promise of superior value and compassionate care,” Mannella said. “Our Board remains intently focused on our responsibility to keep Slidell Memorial as a sustainable, not-for-profit provider of quality community healthcare.”
Joining the officers on the Board are members: Kumar K. Amaraneni, M.D., representing Ward 9; Mack E. "Ed" Dennis, representing Ward 8; Thomas Hall, M.D., representing Ward 8; Daniel McGovern, IV, representing Ward 9; Clinton Sharp, M.D., the Medical Staff Representative; and Archie Tatford, M.D., the Medical Staff President.
St. Tammany Parish Hospital Service District No. 2 (Slidell Memorial Hospital) is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners. Seven members are appointed by an appointing authority (comprised of a local legislative delegation) from nominating committee recommendations.
The remaining two members are the President of the Medical Staff and one Medical Staff appointee. Each board member brings a unique background of expertise and experience that is invaluable in guiding Slidell Memorial Hospital.
The Board of Commissioners is responsible for the quality of the medical care provided at the hospital.
Slidell Memorial Hospital is a full-service 229-bed acute care not-for-profit community hospital located at 1001 Gause Blvd., in the heart of Slidell. Founded in 1959, SMH serves as a primary healthcare resource for families in St. Tammany Parish, LA and Pearl River County, MS.
