Slidell's New Police Chief To Be Sworn In

SLIDELL, LA (AP) — Newly elected Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal will be sworn in today, Friday, Jan. 6, at a ceremony at the city's Municipal Auditorium.

         The event, which is open to the public, began at 10:00 a.m.

         NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune’s Robert Rhoden reports Fandal is a retired Louisiana State Police lieutenant and former Slidell officer. He defeated former Slidell police Capt. Kevin O'Neill in a Dec. 10 runoff election to complete the remainder of former chief Randy Smith's term.

         Smith was elected St. Tammany Parish sheriff in the fall of 2015 and took office July 1.
