NEW ORLEANS – Economic Development journal Site Selection has named Louisiana to its Top 10 list of Best States for Business for the seventh year in a row, ranking the state #7 in the magazine’s 2016 Top U.S. Business Climates report.
Site Selection bases its business climate ranking on a variety of factors: Half of the score results from a survey of corporate site selectors who are asked to rank the states based on their recent experience of locating facilities in them. The other 50 percent is based on an index that includes total new projects year-to-date, both overall and per capita; state tax burdens on new and established companies; and performance in Site Selection’s annual Prosperity Cup – formerly Top Competitive States – ranking.
Site Selection’s Top 10 States for Business are:
1 – Georgia
2 – North Carolina
3 – Ohio
4 – Tennessee and Texas (tie)
6 – Virginia
7 – Louisiana and South Carolina (tie)
9 – Alabama
10 – Indiana
According to Mark Arend, Editor-in-Chief of Site Selection Magazine, “This year’s ranking, like those of previous years, illustrates the enduring strength of the U.S. South as a destination for corporate expansion. Ohio (third) and Indiana (10th) made the top 10, but all others in that group can be found south of the Mason-Dixon Line.”
