METAIRIE, LA – East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) announced Janis Sita, RN, has been recognized as a Regional Faculty Exemplary Service award winner from the American Heart Association (AHA) for her dedicated work in the Center for Nursing Knowledge and Research and her efforts in the community.
The award is an annual peer-nominated accolade that recognizes the AHA’s regional faculty in all regions that go above and beyond in their service training centers and the volunteerism they do within their given region.
Sita was nominated by her fellow nursing professionals as the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) RF Exemplary Service Award winner for the Louisiana and Mississippi regions, where she actively coaches and mentors, along with conducting timely course monitoring.
Among her community service projects, Sita has assisted in hands only CPR training, AHA Heart Walks, speaking at Lobby Days for the Stroke/STEMI Bill and is highly active with the Go Red for Women events.
Professionally, Sita is part of the Louisiana and Mississippi Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Committee and is currently the RADAR Workgroup Chair, assisting in faculty recruitment, application, development, assignment and retention processes.
Sita continues to support her region and the AHA initiatives not only through her attendance and speaking engagements at AHA sponsored events, but also through the You’re the Cure Network, where she is ranked as a captain.
Sita is one of the countless nurses at East Jefferson General Hospital that continue to create and maintain the top-tier environment of healing the institution puts forth on a daily basis, hospital reps said.
