Ship Tech Services Launches In St. Bernard Parish

CHALMETTE, LA – The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation welcomes Ship Tech Services to the Parish.

         The new startup business was founded in St. Bernard last summer, immediately adding 15 jobs to the local economy with the potential for adding 10 more within a year.

         Ship Tech Services provides maritime, environmental and industrial cleaning services for ships, barges, tanks and other vessels throughout the Gulf Coast.

         Faulk is originally from St. Bernard and attended Chalmette High School. He was a shipping agent before founding United States Maritime Services, United States Environmental Services, United States Industrial Services, and United States Mooring Services in the early 1990s. Each of these companies was headquartered in Meraux, LA. Faulk grew the companies to be leaders in their respective areas and successfully sold them to a private equity group in 2004. Thereafter, Faulk moved to Montana and came back home to St. Bernard last year to found Ship Tech Services.

         St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to promote economic development and commercial growth of St. Bernard Parish and to lead the initiation of partnering organizations seeking to improve the quality of life for St. Bernard Parish citizens. To achieve this mission, SBEDF primarily engages in business attraction, retention, and expansion. Additionally, workforce development and policy development are pursued as key initiatives to drive economic development activities.
