NEW ORLEANS – The Honorable Leslie Ellison formally qualified for the office of State Senator, District 7 yesterday, which represents the Westbank—specifically, areas of Orleans, Plaquemines and Jefferson Parishes.
Ellison said, “It is time for new leadership with fresh ideas to arise in District 7 and for the political dealings of old to come to an end so that the Westbank can truly grow and move forward. This is a pivotal time for the Westbank of Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes, and I thank the Lord for allowing me to serve the esteemed citizens of District 7. My eyes and heart remain firmly focused on ensuring that they have an honest leader in the Louisiana Senate who sees and understands their needs and is willing to serve and represent their families and interests.”
A lifelong resident of the Westbank and Algiers (McClendonville), and an elected member of the Orleans Parish School Board, Ellison has more than 27 years of combined leadership experience in government, education, public affairs, business and citizen advocacy in the Louisiana legislature.
