SBEDF Passes Resolution Supporting Nunez Community College

CHALMETTE, LA — The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) announced it has adopted a resolution supporting Nunez Community College in the midst of the Louisiana Legislature's second special session of 2016.

         The resolution, which passed unanimously at the Wednesday, June 15, 2016, meeting of the organization's board of directors, stresses the importance Nunez Community College plays in SBEDF's mission of retaining and creating jobs, building prosperity, and improving the quality of life in St. Bernard Parish.

         “Nunez Community College is a pillar of our community,” said Andrew Jacques, the executive director of SBEDF. "In particular, the college's process technology program is an essential piece of the entire region's workforce development strategy."

         The resolution encourages state legislatures support any and all legislation that ensures the college's long term sustainability and health.

         SBEDF is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to retain and create jobs, build prosperity, and improve the quality of life in St. Bernard Parish. The Board of Directors consists of 28 voting members and 8 non-voting honorary members and public officials, all of which serve as volunteers to the organization. SBEDF’s work is made possible through the general support of its investors, St. Bernard Parish Government, St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District, the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation and Cox Communications at the Champion Level, the Law Offices of Sidney Torres, III and Associated Terminals at the Pillars Level, and Palmisano Group and Meyer Engineers at the Community Leaders Level.
