NEW ORLEANS — Food & Wine’s Global Tastemakers has named the Roosevelt Hotel’s Sazerac Bar the the No. 2 hotel bar in the United States. More than 180 food and travel journalists contributed to the Global Tastemakers list, and rankings were determined by a panel of judges.
Last year, the Sazerac Bar was named No. 1 hotel bar in the country for a sixth time by the USA Today Readers’ Choice Awards, and the Roosevelt itself was cited as the No. 1 hotel for the holidays by the same readers.
“The Sazerac Bar is known as much for its art deco interior and illustrious list of past guests as for its namesake Sazerac and Ramos gin fizz – a favorite of Louisiana Gov. Huey P. Long, who was said to have built Airline Highway in order to have a straight shot from the governor’s mansion in Baton Rouge to the Roosevelt,” said a hotel spokesperson.
