NEW ORLEANS — The City’s Department of Sanitation and JOB1 will hold a 2015 Mardi Gras Clean-Up Operations Job Fair to recruit for 150 temporary employees during the Mardi Gras 2015 season, and to distribute information about full time, permanent employment opportunities with the City's Department of Sanitation.
The event takes place on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at 3400 Tulane Ave., New Orleans.
Qualified individuals will be selected to attend an orientation session and register for a required two-day job readiness class in advance of the Mardi Gras clean-up operation on Jan. 15 – Jan. 27. Temporary employees will earn $10.10 an hour with the potential to earn up to $1,000 during the two-week Mardi Gras season, from Feb. 6 – Feb. 18.
"We will continue to invest in the residents of New Orleans by offering job opportunities and job readiness training through our partnership with JOB 1," said Sanitation Director Cynthia Sylvain-Lear. "We hope that this opportunity leads residents to full-time employment."
Individuals who are actively seeking employment are strongly encouraged to attend the job fair and to connect with JOB1. Attendees must bring their Social Security card and State approved photo identification card in order to sign-up for the job readiness course.
The Job Fair is sponsored by the Department of Sanitation and the City’s Office of Workforce Development in partnership with Total Community Action (TCA) and numerous NOLA FOR LIFE social service partners.
