NEW ORLEANS – Sixth grade students at the Academy of the Sacred Heart were formally recognized for completing the IBERIABANK Financial Scholars Program, an online program powered by EverFi that provides financial literacy education.
Students applied skills learned from this program to the sixth grade social enterprise “Hearts for Humanity.” Through this project, students developed, produced, packaged and marketed items to generate funds to build a water well for children at a South Sudan school in Africa.
Founded in 1867, the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls, offering 17 years of educational programs and services beginning with the Little Hearts Early Learning Program for ages 1-3 through twelfth grade.
The Rosary, as Sacred Heart is affectionately called, is part of an international group of educational institutions sponsored by the Society of the Sacred Heart, an educational order founded in France in 1800 by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat.
The Sacred Heart sixth grade class displays their Financial Scholars certificates.
Students created ceramic flowers as one of several items they sold through “Hearts for Humanity” to raise fund to build a water well in Africa.
