NEW ORLEANS – A decade after its original opening, and five years after the Hard Rock Hotel construction collapse forced its closure, the Ruby Slipper restaurant will reopen its doors on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 1001 Canal Street. There will be an reopening ceremony on Feb. 20.
“This reopening is not just a celebration of our past, but a commitment to the vibrant future of our city,” said co-founder Jennifer Weishaupt in a press release.
Representatives of the Downtown Development District, the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and New Orleans & Company are scheduled to attend the reopening event. Singer Robin Barnes will perform.
Ruby Slipper and sister concept Ruby Sunshine specialize in brunch with cocktails. It has eight locations in New Orleans, nine in the state and 25 systemwide. The restaurant began in Mid-City in 2008 and has since expanded across the Southeast. To learn more, visit rubybrunch.com.
“In the face of many challenges, including the tragic construction collapse that deeply affected this neighborhood, we have emerged stronger,” said Weishaupt. “This reopening is more than just a restaurant; it’s an investment in the heart of our beloved city, a contribution to the revitalization of Canal Street, and a symbol of resilience for the entire community.”
