RTA Celebrates Transit Week in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will celebrate Transit Week in New Orleans from Nov. 10-14.

         The RTA has designated Tuesday, Nov. 11, as the official Try Transit Day in New Orleans. On this day, all New Orleanians are encouraged to park their cars and try public transit.

          “Whether traveling by streetcar, bus or ferry, this will be a great time for our citizens to discover new alternatives to their daily commute,” said Patrice Bell-Mercadel, Director of Marketing and Communications for the RTA. “In addition to possibly saving time and money, you will have a new experience traveling throughout the city.”

         During Transit Week all residents are encouraged to utilize public transit in an effort to help the environment by reducing energy consumption and pollution.

         The RTA is also encouraging citizens to get social while on transit. Riders are encouraged to take selfies and share their transit experiences by utilizing the hashtags #TryTransitNOLA and #RTAFlow. Riders are also encouraged to follow the RTA, @NewOrleansRTA.
