In 2015, Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced details of an over $250 million investment made in upgrades and redesigns to its U.S. collection, which aim to deliver a guest experience centered on providing more than just a place to stay. The significant renovation of Royal Sonesta New Orleans, one of the brand’s flagship hotels, expands on Sonesta’s dedication to providing a diverse and distinctive portfolio.

“We’re thrilled to unveil our reimagined Royal Sonesta New Orleans,” said Sonesta International Hotels Corporation President and CEO Carlos Flores. “This is an iconic Sonesta property with its prime location in the French Quarter, and we know our guests will enjoy an even higher level of comfort and service as a result of these upgrades, which truly bring the spirit of New Orleans to the forefront of the experience.”

The renovations are a culmination of enhancements that began with the reimagining of the hotel’s casual restaurant, Desire Oyster Bar. The venue’s interior redesign tastefully blends the property’s classically original, iconic aesthetics with modern elements, including decorative iron grillwork, oversized windows, an antique mirror, tin ceiling and black and white checkered floors.

Most recently, Royal Sonesta New Orleans was recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Hotels list, ranking in the top 10 Best New Orleans Hotels, as well as Best Louisiana Hotels, and #1 among the Sonesta properties included in the 2016 rankings.

The hotel is home to several dining and entertainment venues, including Restaurant R’evolution, Bar R’evolution, Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, Desire Oyster Bar, Le Booze and PJ’s Coffee Café.

In addition to world-class amenities, Royal Sonesta New Orleans offers 20,000 square feet of meeting and special event space.
