Roosevelt Hosts Lighting of the Waldorf Wonderland

NEW ORLEANS – Nov. 8, 2018 – The Roosevelt New Orleans Hotel will host the “lighting of the Waldorf Wonderland” in the hotel’s lobby at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Musician Trombone Shorty will kick off the holiday season with the flip of a switch, igniting the lobby in sparkling lights. Past lighters have included the family of the late Fats Domino, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and the cast of NCIS New Orleans.

The public is invited to experience the lobby lighting and champagne toast. The block-long lobby display will be expanded this year and feature 20,000 additional lights and nearly double the bows and garlands.

A tradition since the 1930s, the Waldorf Wonderland is free and open to the public starting Tuesday and continuing through the end of the year. The hotel says an estimated 250,000 people walk through the lobby each year to see the display.
